In October of 2019, Boris Johnson was elected leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative party, making him the current Prime Minister. This came as a surprise to absolutely no one, as Johnson has long been considered one of the most likely contenders for the position. But is he really fit to be Prime Minister? Let’s take a look at some of his most infamous misadventures to find out.
In 2004, Johnson was appointed as the shadow arts minister by then-leader Michael Howard. He promptly caused an uproar by suggesting that funding for museums and galleries should be redirected to “more important” causes like fighting crime. He was quickly removed from his position.
In 2005, he was appointed as the vice-chairman of the Conservative party. He caused another uproar when he was caught on camera calling a Labour councillor a “big girl’s blouse.” He was forced to apologize and resigned from his position shortly thereafter.
In 2006, Johnson made headlines again when it was revealed that he had had an affair with a journalist while he was married. He initially denied the allegations but later admitted to them, saying that he had committed adultery “on occasion.”
And these are just some of the highlights! In addition to all of this, Johnson has also been accused of everything from racism to sexism to Islamophobia. Is this really the kind of person we want representing our country on the global stage? You be the judge.
Boris Johnson has been causing controversy ever since he entered politics in the early 2000s. From offensive remarks to extramarital affairs, it seems like there’s nothing this man can’t do wrong. So is he really fit to be Prime Minister? You be the judge.
