WhatsApp is back online after a brief global outage.

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world, suffered a global outage on Wednesday that left users unable to send or receive messages.

The outage, which started at around 3 pm EST, lasted for several hours and affected users in countries all over the world.

WhatsApp has not yet disclosed the reason for the outage, but it is likely that technical issues were to blame.

This latest outage is just the latest in a series of problems that WhatsApp has faced in recent months. In October, the platform suffered an hours-long outage that hit traders of assets such as cryptocurrencies and oil.

WhatsApp is a critical means of communication for households and businesses all over the world, and when it experiences an outage like this, it can cause major disruptions.

The latest outage came during the festive season in India – WhatsApp’s biggest market by user count – and many people were left unable to send season’s greetings to their friends and family.

Shares of WhatsApp-parent Meta Platforms fell 0.7 per cent to $128.85 in premarket trading following the outage.

The company had not sent any fresh updates as users in Asia, India and the United Kingdom started seeing some connections come back online.

Shares of WhatsApp-parent Meta Platforms fell to $128.85 a share in premarket trading following the outage.
